Honestly is this place open? The last 5-6 times I have called to figure out the hours, no one has answered. I ask because I went there once mid day during the week and there was a paper sign on the door that said it was closed. Please let me know, I would like to come here and bring my family.

Should have looked at the reviews on yelp first. Drove over with an Entertainment coupon and found the place closed. My guess is the LARGE green Sheriff sticker was for underage drinking going on. They will close you down fast for that. This was our first try so needless to say major disappointment.

I believe Blues Bar may be permanently closed. A couple of weeks ago they placed a sign in the window saying "closed for annual maintenance" and then after a week changed it to the current sign "Blues Bar is closed" A week ago I saw the somebody handing out what looked like final checks to the staff. Not sure what the future will bring there.

It's 20 miles to Mount Prospect, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it. Seriously though? I come here EVERY SUNDAY. No joke. Yes, it coincides with my man's Sunday hockey habit at a rink nearby, but there's other places I can go after his games. There are even places that offer us free crappy beers if he wins his games but you can't tear me away from Blues Bar. Why? The beer and the wings, naturally. Beer. One of my favorite things in this entire world. I have an exorbitant amount of check-ins on Untappd, but you know what? I usually find a beer here every week that I haven't tried. That's impressive. On Sundays, drafts are all $2 off, there's 20 beers to choose from (and more if you want bottled beer), and the selection is amazeballs. They only get a small amount of each beer though, so double check with the server to see what's out. It's usually the 3 Floyd's tap. *sigh* Wings. I don't even know what's on the rest of the menu because all I do is mangia on wings here every time. You have to get 12 or 24, which is a lot of wings since they are gargantuan here, but it's worth it. The spicy garlic sauce is the greatest wing sauce that will ever cross your lips. And the wings are smoky and crispy and saucy and delicious. I have pretty much just turned into Homer Simpson drooling and groaning as I sit here just thinking about them. I'm gross. Sue me. Service. The only downfall, really. And it's not the servers fault. I've worked as a server/bartender for years and I will tell you that it is IMPOSSIBLE to run the damn restaurant yourself. And that's typically what is happening here (at least on Sundays). Lately there has been a busser to help out, but the poor server is usually tending bar and serving every table in and out of the restaurant which is one of my worst night terrors. I kid you not. Go here. You'll thank me. (Just plan to be there awhile).

Blues Bar closed permanently this time. Been having trouble getting sales tax to the State four years in a row. This time they called it quits for good.

On a whim I tried the beef brisket again. It was much better than the first time. Juicy and tender, very good. On Sunday's they have a BBQ breakfast with eggs and hash browns plus your choice of BBQ meat. Excellent pairing for one of the many craft beers on tap.

Our party of 10 stopped by here for lunch today. Excellent service by a bartender who also served tables, great beer selection and the best burgers we have had in awhile. A little pricey but everything was great so we didn't mind a delicious $14 burger and fries. We will be back

Went to this place two Saturdays ago. If I could give this place a negative rating I would. The service is the worst service one could ever experience. A cover to get into a place when you are going to buy food and drinks!!!! Give me a &$:);ing break. To make matters worse, the genius at the door is one of the rudest hosts. After paying the 5 bucks each, we are asked, are you standing up or do you want a table? What do you think? I just paid ten bucks to get in here. Don't mind paying a cover so in we go. After listening to one song the "I guess you can call it a Blues band" played they went to the bar for twenty minutes, played one more song and then back to the bar. After being there 30 mins, not once was I asked if I wanted to order anything. I had to walk to the bar and order myself. Needless to say, we did not eat anything, especially after hearing others at the restaurant complain about the soggy fries and dirty cups. Glad I stuck with bottled beer. To sum it up..... -Cool name -Could be a nice sports and live music Bar -Many tv's -TERRIBLE SERVICE (and that's being kind) -RUDE from start to finish If I were the owner I would send the entire staff to "customer service 101 class". Here are a few tips..... 1. Welcome. 2. Can I get you anything? 3. Have a wonderful evening, hope to see you again. They are losing so much money because of their substandard customer service. Won't be back!

I have come here a number of times when I work in Chicago. I thought I had found a pub I could enjoy near my hotel. Tonight, the food was cold and bland, someone is smoking in the kitchen, and the bartender is standing by the door texting. Bar is pretty empty, and I think my experience is probably why. They said the smoke I smell is because they changed the filters today and that is the smell you get for several days. ?????
(1)Richard J.
Been here twice, in a row actually. I drink amazing craft brewed beers (on tap!) and enjoyed a wonderful "Cajun Tuna" sandwich. The sweet potato fries are good, but not the best I have had. Love the atmosphere and the bartender & waitress was amazing! This will be without a doubt my go to place when I am anywhere near Mt. Prospect in the future.
(5)Ryan H.
Great for music and drinks, but eat before hand because looking at their menu is just a waste of time.. I mean their food is good if you have plenty to drink before hand, so much that your taste buds don't have to feel the effects. But if you are going for knock a few back and listen to some good tunes, you will have a great time!

My girlfriends and I have "girls' night" here occassionally to catch up. This is a hidden gem in the northwest suburbs. Blues Brothers themed bar - check Free parking - check In the northwest suburbs (Take that, over rated Chicago bars!) - check Clean!!! (Take that, over rated Chicago bars!) - LOVE IT! Service - VERY FRIENDLY! (Take that, over rated Chicago bars with douchebags staff!) Food - Your basic bar fare: burgers, fries, beer, wraps, etc. Down to earth, good stuff. No pretentious foo foo/high fallutin' anything here. (Take that, over rated Chicago bar food!) Prices - Affordable. (Approx. $10-$15 without drinks) Lots of big screens for sports fans - check Blues Bar is approx. 20 miles from downtown Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, no cigarettes coz we don't wanna die of lung cancer, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

Came here with my honey to watch the Hawks vs Stars game (WTF Hawks?). First it must be said that the owners apparently lucked out and they have more than ample parking nearby which is unusual for a tavern in the middle of town. Makes it really nice as I hate to battle for a parking place. We had a groupon which the waitress accepted cheerfully and with no hassle. I know that this is how it always should be but in my experience this isn't always the reality. The interior has just the right amount of Blues Brothers decorations including a "Mount Prospect cop car" above the stage. Two more-than-life-sized figures of Jake and Elwood decorate opposite ends of the bar area. Where we were seated was comfortable- not as comfortable as my man cave, but certainly acceptable. Blues Bar has a great selection of craft beers in bottles and on tap. Looked like they had a good chunk of wines and mixed drinks too but I didn't check them that closely. I felt that there was a very nice selection on their menu- lots of upscale choices as well as the usual burger and sandwich sports bar standbys. I felt the prices were just this side of pricey which made it a reasonable experience. I ordered the tuna steak sandwich with chipotle dressing on the side and sweet potato fries. My tuna was cooked to order and as I like it. I don't know if the cook intercepted my brain waves or I just somehow got lucky but it was prepared exactly the way I wanted it and had some sort of a very flavorful light glaze on the outside of the fish. The fries were pretty standard and unremarkable but what can you really do with fries? Our waitress was there when we needed her and not when we didn't. This showed me that she was paying attention and it helped make the visit a great experience for both of us. When the Hawks game came on they turned on the projection TV's above the stage (big) and above the bar (huge). Holy Hannah it was wall to wall hockey immersion for the duration of the game & I loved it. Lots of smaller HD TV's nearly everywhere that you might turn your head to look. Sound was set at a level where you could hear the announcers but normal conversation was possible too. A lot of positives and a very good first impression of the Blues Bar. I feel that good and attentive management is what produces these sort of customer focused experiences. For sure I will be plan to be back- I would like to stop by on a Fri-Sat night when they have live entertainment.

I'm trying to be fair because I just got Credit for a Groupon we purchased B4 The Blues Bar entered whatever downward cycle it is in. WHEN is Yelp going to BRING BACK those trending reviews statistics?? This place is going DOWN. These recent reviews are terrifying. So I just saved myself by bailing and have NEVER been here. Here's my story. I called twice this week, and even talked to two different people to see WHY I would have to pay a cover when I am coming in with a Groupon to EAT per the Groupon, after 8pm? The help on the end said that they had had trouble with people not eating, and when I pointed out that that doesn't make any sense for people WITH a groupon in their hand to eat ... nada, zut, no there there. Seeya. Anyway, I called Groupon and they credited me, so I have NEVER been here, and I'm not making any plans until a mgmt change or fire or something. Groupon on the other hand is still solid; shit happens and they make it go away. BEWARE.
(2)Chicago D.
I would definitely go again but the service was slow. Only reason for taking a star away. Also they play some fun music. Nothing beats a rock n roll cover band!
(4)Lefai K.
This place was closed recently for "renovations" and finally reopened recently. We went here and the place sure looks the same to me. The whole setup was the same -- stage at the front, second partial level up top and the seats, chairs, and decor looked the same. I ordered the chicken sandwich which wasn't too dry, or exactly memorable. The wait staff was friendly and nice. We went there on a Saturday afternoon so there was no live music at the time. I guess I'll have to check this place out at night to see if their music has changed or not. BATHROOM REVIEW: The bathrooms are the same as well. Nothing appeared to be remodeled or new. Sparkly tiles and walls, but very nice and clean. They have sensor hand paper towels and two sinks.. Sit or squat? I'll sit.

Keeping it short and simple: -good food when it finally arrives -slow/poor service -good beer list, but everything on it is overpriced -$7 min. cover on weekends not worth it when you pay too much for your drinks and have poor service. -
(1)Lindsey S.
Love coming here! Great drinks, yummy food and Colleen 's service is always exceptional! We will be back soon!
(5)Ben R.
First let me say I had a good time here once but thats not enough as they damn near ruined my gfs and Is NYE...so if you remember "if not look outside" we got hit bad with snow nye. So to keep it simple and safe we walked here from my gfs house. We walked in to a loud horid hair band but to each there God awful own. Then were asked to pay a cover of $10 are you fn serious? We fought our way to the upper deck and got a table. Then it got fun! 1. My girlfriend ordered a hurricane the guy says we dont have a blender "its not a margarita genius you dont need one" 2.The snotty punk running the down stairs bar made it but was an ass the whole time like asking to do his job was a hassle. 3.The patrons you people in mt.pros aren't that special you have a little $? No one cares show some respect for others you yuppie scum. This snotty wasp wannabe in a ugly zebra pattern coat cut the waitresses off and stole the champagne flutes headed to our table. Now as much as she deserved to be thrown off the balcony we let it slide. Long story short never again.

Is it too late for Jon Taffer and Bar Rescue?

Read the earlier reviews and had to try it myself. I had baby back ribs with bourbon sauce. It's sweet because it has molasses in it but it's flavorful. I liked the wings and sweet potato fries. I will go back and try more items including dessert and listen to the music. Oh yeah forgot, lots of micro beer choices.
(4)Kimsy S.
This was not the best BBQ I've ever had. Actually, it was the worst I've ever had. I ordered the pulled pork with the sweet and sticky sauce, BBQ baked beans, and corn on the cob. The meat and sauce were tasteless. Not even bland; just tasteless. I felt like I was chewing on tires. The BBQ baked beans might as well have been bacon and onions in maple syrup with a smattering of beans. The corn on the cob was hard and dry. I felt like a senior citizen who knew better and should have stuck to cornmeal mush. No amount of butter on Earth could have rescued that corn. The only saving grace for the meal was dessert: the apple bread pudding is TO DIE FOR. Soft, buttery, and ooey gooey. :-) The butterscotch topping is delicious. Huge enough to share (of course I did not). My partner and I went around 10pm on a Sunday, so the place was pretty empty. But the ambience was nice, and the service was friendly. Extra kudos for recommending the apple bread pudding! I'd probably come back for an appetizer, to see a set, and definitely to get more of that bread pudding. Pass on the BBQ. Terrible. Horrible.

Nice location in downtown Mt. Prospect a short walk from the train station but considering the ridiculous cover charges and the poor service I can't recommend. My most recent visit was also my last. Sat at a table and was never served. The man at the door was completely unhelpful so we left and walked down the street to another bar. Try Emerson's or Mrs. P & Me for better food and service.
(2)Tony S.
This place never disappoints me awesome wings, amazing beer choices, and outstanding burgers. Not to mention the great variety of other dishes. The outdoor patio is great as well!
(4)Cmck s.
Great beer selection. There must be almost 100 choices. Not a lot on tap but great selection. I love coming here to drink because I can walk home. It has a nice outside seating area and a giant TV on the inside. They show sports mostly but when a band plays they project it on the giant TV so there isn't a bad seat in the house. The burgers a amazing but the rest of the food is just slightly above average. They have some really great appetizers if you are just looking for something to eat with your beer. Love having it in the neighborhood but not sure if i would go too often if it wasn't walking distance.

The Blues Bar is located in downtown Mount Prospect. Unlike other bars in downtown suburbs, the Blues Bar hosts a mature crowd. Most of the patrons are 30+. The decor is pretty cool. They usually have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Despite what the name implies, most of the bands are local cover bands playing dance and rock. This bar rarely gets packed so the bathrooms are cleanish. The food is decent but high priced. I would classify the food as high end bar food at restaurant prices. They have a pretty good beer selection. If you go there to hear your favorite local band, don't get you expectations too high. The sound system has been poorly run every time I've been there. Unfortunately, I've been here several times to perform and see other bands. Getting a server or bartender's attention can be a real challenge. I have shared my distain for this place with others that have been there and apparently, I'm not alone. I've talked to dozens of people who have been there and no one has ever had anything good to say about it. Many people have complained that the manager is a jerk and they're legendary for sucky service.
(1)Sarah S.
Live music on Fridays and Saturdays! My friends and I wanted somewhere low key to have a couple of drinks last night. We were a bit put off at the $5 cover when we hit the door, but such is the price to pay for the band I suppose. On the plus side, there is ample parking lot in a big parking lot outside. Our waitress was not friendly at all. She didn't bust a smile the entire time. She seemed annoyed with us when my friend ordered a blue moon for her boyfriend and she came back with two blue moons for both of them...And my friend let her know they only wanted the one drink. When we each had ordered a drink, she was taking our drink menus and I had to ask her to leave them....doesn't she want us to order more drinks? She didn't seem interested in checking up on us and then just brought us our check. She didn't even ask if we wanted more drinks before dropping it off....? It was so weird. She was clearly disinterested in our table or the job or both. Other than the crappy service we got, I really dug the place. I liked the door guy, the live band and loved the atmosphere. It was super chill and relaxed with varying ages of people in the joint. I'm talking late 20s to senior citizens which made me happy there were no just turned 21-ers. It was funny to watch some of the older band groupies dancing on the huge screen displayed above the bar. A highlight of our evening. Heh. They had a surprisingly good beer selection in my humble opinion. I can never find 5 Rabbit in Schaumburg area bars and was overjoyed they had it on their menu. I love 5 Rabbit's Lizard and Grass (two of my absolute favorites) so was happy to try their Vulture. Mmmm. I had a hard Woodchuck after that and also saw some good Dogfish, Three Floyds and some other goodies on the beer menu. Honestly, you don't get such a selection in the burbs very often. They have trivia on Tuesday nights! I'm going to try and get my friends together and drag them over. I'll definitely be back but def will dip to a different server if I get that same one again.
(3)Buzzy R.
I've been at the Blues Bar with a few groups. One night for a wine meet. Friendly staff and mostly saw general bar food. I had a good salad last time. Most of the group is happy with the wine and beer choices. Tonight I'm with buds looking to enjoy a local band.
(4)Gemma K.
The sad thing about the looming end of warm weather is missing those outdoor patio restaurant moments. The good news is that there's still time and Blues Bar has nice outdoor seating. Couple that with five dollar appetizers and 100 different bottles of beer on the wall ... okay, make that about 75. Still, a vast selection and a great set of buffalo wings. Go with spicy garlic or have them add hot mango barbie sauce, they are great. And for you sugar fiends, they do desserts, too. Try that awesome buttery butterscotch cookie. A friend ordered their pulled pork sandwich and it was tender to the core. Whether it's deals on beer or burgers or whether you get into their rock star rodeo or trivia team games, weeknights, it's a fun spot try. In or out.
(4)Richard M.
We love this great little bar in downtown Mt. Prospect. The food is good and there is usually a great band playing on weekends.
(5)Ashley S.
I've been here twice in the last month...so they must be doing something right... The first time I took advantage of their outside seating, and a few Summer Shandy's. The service was fantastic and the fact that they have 3 flat screen TV's viewable from the patio is really different from most outdoor spaces. My second visit was this past Tuesday...I dined inside and stuck around for Team Trivia. I now know that it doesn't start until 8pm and that you should definitely have a team of more than 2.... They had great deals, Pulled Pork Sandwich for $6, and Premium Bottled Beers on special. My boyfriend took advantage of the Pulled Pork Sandwich and as his side he got cornbread, yes, I said cornbread, weirdo. I had a cheeseburger with fries, the food was really good, but the dessert was by far my favorite! A brownie sundae, with a large, warm brownie smothered in vanilla ice cream and whipped cream...YUM! All in all it was a great experience and I will definitely be back!!!!
(4)Chris P.
After they reopened following the liquor license debacle, I was taken here by a vendor then followed up with a Groupon visit. I've always wanted to like this place so I can help build downtown Mt. Prospect. But both visits sucked even worse than before the closure. Before, I always found the pulled pork good, I love the sauce and the beer selection is good. The food has crashed and so has the service. For lunch, I had the brisket and it was dry and tough. For my Groupon visit, there was a private event downstiars, so the upstairs was reasonably full, but only one server on staff. He was overworked. Our food was cold and bland, my potato wedges were so old they were hard and while I had asked for BBQ sauce on the side, it didn't come with my plate and we were missing our cornbread. It took eating through everything but my meat before I had to walk to the waiter and ask for the BBQ sauce and cornbread. Oh and their cornbread is totally different...doesn't even taste like cornbread. No reason to even give this place another chance...they are obviously cutting food quality to pay bills. I give it 6 months before they close. Hopefully someone else can take it over and bring the place to it's full potential.
(1)Lavon K.
We went in the afternoon. We tried the Nachos and yes they can get soggy -- if that's not your sort of thing then just ask for no liquid cheese -- just have them put it on the side -- otherwise you'll be fine. Tried the BBQ pulled pork - DELISH. Our server wasn't friendly but very helpful in helping us pick out a beer. We will definitely be back.
(4)Les O.
Solid all around. Cold beer. Good service. Lights dimmed low. Have had cheeseburger and fries. Just ok. I had the turkey club. A little dry. The asparagus was the highlight. The ambience always steers me here. 3.5 stars is I could.
(3)Sharon B.
Just got back from eating here with my boyfriend. We had a groupon. (Thank goodness) the best thing was the beer and the coleslaw. They had 1 waitress for 10 tables, and she was running around like crazy. Nice, but she didn't have time to really ask us anything. I ordered the pulled pork. Way too much sauce! Yuck! The sauce was too spicey! Larry had the brisket. He had to cut most of it away. It was very chewy. Would come back with a friend for a beer and app to try again. Thought the inside looked like Harry's in downtown Arlington Hts
(2)Jacob J.
For music and drinks it's a good time. Food is better than average. Their wings are pretty damn good, but their full rack of ribs runs on the too dry side where you're gnawing on the bone to get the meat off. I don't particularly like that. So I'll take it home and throw it in a medium size wok with water at the bottom, in essence smoking life back into it using moisture. Cover the wok and let it sit on medium heat for a little while and it'll get the meat back to a suitable, fall off the bone style. I only mention their barbecue because I've often heard people talk about BB as a barbecue spot. Winter weekday nights can be dead. DEAD. So if you're looking for company you may like to go elsewhere. It's best on the typical popular nights of the weekends or when bands play. Of course this all changes during warmer seasons. BB also offers food and drink specials based on certain nights, so if you're looking for that meal deal with the right appeal, weeknights are best for dining. Check their website for menu and monthly specials. Food items are moderately priced and most items are priced around $6 to $10 dollars for sandwiches and etc and entrees up to about $17. Warmer weather can be a good time out here in the MP. Types of patrons differ by the night; I've seen some nights where it's 40's and 50's and then other times when it's the typical mid to late 20's. Since transportation and parking are readily available nearby, happy hour can be the right time. The right place to stop during rush hour.
(3)Michael N.
I've been here a handful of times, with the most recent being last night for Team Trivia night. A two person team is no match for teams of 6-8, but we tried our best and came in a respectable last place. Oh Tuesday nights they have their famous pulled pork sandwich on special for $6. It was easily one of the best PP sandwiches I've ever had. I had it with the sweet and sticky bbq sauce (you get to choose from 3 different kinds.) I chose cornbread as my side because I wanted to be "southern," but the cornbread was dry and not good. I was hoping it would be like Boston Market cornbread, mmmmm :) My girlfriend had the regular burger with pepperjack. The burger itself was great, but the bun they use is wayyyyy too "bready." We tried a few different beers and finished dinner off with their brownie sundae. The brownie is warm, the ice cream is vanilla beany, and the whipped cream is succulent. I really enjoy this place. There are a lot of TVs showing different sporting events. Last night they had the White Sox and the Olympics on. Even the people sitting outside have three flat screens to watch! The Blues Bar surely doesn't make me blue :P
(4)Amanda B.
I really like this place. Nice tribute to the Blues Brothers, which I hadn't seen prior to eating here. Dining here inspired me to finally watch the classic Chicago flick. Me and a friend used to eat here fairly often and was one of our favorite dining spots. Good service and good food...portions are a bit small, though. I always get the Thai chicken lettuce wraps. My favorite! I've also tried the shrimp dish. Too small for me. Cool decor, live music on occasion. Quiet during the day, but a bit loud at night, so this wouldn't be the best for a first date.
(5)Maggie B.
This place is a hidden gem. It's not too often that you get great BBQ in the burbs. The food was spectacular!!! The menu had a lot of options that all sounded delicious... it was hard to narrow down. We finally decided on the brisket platter and the pulled pork platter. The portions are large and come with 2 sides... a really good value for the price. The service was good. Our server was attentive and our food came out pretty quickly. (Nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about either.) The atmosphere and decor were very nice as well. Obviously Blues Brothers theme is an automatic hit especially for anyone who grew up in Chicago. There are TVs everywhere playing any and every game so you will never miss a minute of the action. Some people made comments about an older crowd which in truth I don't understand. What do these people expect? Ummm Hello????...this is Mt Prospect and not Wrigley. If you are looking to get laid or for a random hook-up.... this is not the place (not to say that it doesn't happen here ) However if you are looking for a laid back atmosphere, good eats, and want to watch a game or listen to music in the burbs...then this is 1000% the right place for you. . We have already recommended this place to several friends and will definitely be going back
(5)M. O.
Well they do have a crap load of beers to choose from but be prepared to wait in between drinks.... Service not the fastest...
(2)Shaki S.
This was my first time to Chicago staying with some dear friends out in the burbs and they wanted to take give us a taste of Chicago. I'm not much of a blues brothers fan but I thought the interior was fantastic especially the ample use of sparkly blue corian, the reproduction old cop car above the bar, and the beautiful light filled emphasis on blue interior, glass wear etc. very cool--But while the service was fine, the food really was subpar. We ordered nachos and received a large plate of tortilla chips coated with nacho cheese from a jar sauce (ick!), very weak peppers, really pathetic strips of sliced barbecued brisket (actually tasted like boiled jerky), just the worst! We had already ordered our main dish of brisket so were bracing for a disappointing and mediocre experience, and were not disappointed with our mediocre expectations. More of the same-- very bland, extremely underwhelming barbecued brisket. Very disappointing and the prices were not cheap which made the culinary experience that much worse. The Revolution however in Lincoln Park was however awesome!!! some of the best brew pub food i've ever had.
(2)Linh L.
My friend and I came here for a few drinks. I really liked the setup of this place, I like that it's bright, but not blinding inside. I also noticed a stage too. Seems like a fun place with live music and food.
(5)Erik S.
Best server I've had in months. Never saw the bottom of my glass. Management at the door was terrible, and un-inviting. I hope they're getting paid accordingly.
(4)Ron W.
A buddy I have not seen in a while wanted to try out this place for dinner and asked me to join him. I said OK let give it a try. I like the theme of the place and who does not like the Blues Brothers. Anyway when we walked in the place looked pretty cool! Big projector and flat screens all over the place. Even some pointing outside for people walking by or smoking to watch. The drink selelction was fairly large and the dinner menu was a good size as well. I ordered a half slab of ribs with the Bourban BBQ sauce. The size was awesome. The ribs were cooked perfectly with a slight pull to remove the meat. Now the next sentence sort of explains the problem I had with the ribs. There was no smoke that I could taste on my ribs. If you are going to serve BBQ there has to be a smoke taste in my opinion. I normally would have given it only 3 star for no smoke in BBQ place. Here is why I gave it 4. Our server good and the quality of the food was good. Also my buddy liked his mini sandwiches and overall we had a good time checking out the place! Get More Smoke In Your BBQ!!!! LOL If you dont care about that then you will have a great meal here!!

All I have to say about this place is meh! I love trying new eats - saw the groupon, looked like a good deal. Would I go there without the groupon again? No. My boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday afternoon. It was okay. Server was terrible. We had the potato skins - they were super good. Loaded with a great size bowl of sour cream on the side :) But that' was the peak of our meal... We said we were going to start with the potato skins...and we already had our food order ready... but My boyfriend-- after he mentioned the appetizer ( still before our food order)-- said that he wanted to order a drink (which he neglected to before) the server said "ok" after the drink order and quickly walked away after - not thinking that we were ordering actual entrees. We then continued to wait for another 30 minutes to actually place our order (didn't even place it until AFTER our appetizer was already halfway eaten because the bus boy actually bought it out for us so we couldn't at that point either) - the waiter just assumed. FINALLY we got our order in. We both split a order of the chicken sandwich and the smokehouse burger. The chicken sandwich was super dry and kinda bland. Nothing spectacular by any means. The smokehouse burger was good - but worth $15?!? Hell no. I live out in the city, so coming out to a mediocre bar with half ass service in the suburbs, PLEASE. The fries were super soggy too. For one of the entrees I ordered the cornbread side --- I'm a huge cornbread fan to begin with, but was sooo disappointed at the unflavorful chipotle corn bread that's supposedly one of there signature sides. Also, the place was pretty empty, only with a handful of regulars. Ambiance has potential, but other than that, not going back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place used to be great in its hay day. Food was half way decent, and it was always packed! Food absolutely sucks! Frozen. It's progressively gotten worse over the past decade. Bartender is some young overweight unprofessional with zero personality. Her greasy hair wrapped up in a ponytail, while she had her ass plopped on at a table off the bar - scratching her head, all the while reading her FB messages. Your job is your job! Do something other than complain how tired you are! This generation! And, we are not old!!!

L and I came here and had such a good time! The music is great and the atmosphere really sets the mood for a good night with the dark interior =] Upstairs there is a police car that looks just like the one in the movie parked in the front windows and all over the bar there are photos from the movie. The bathroom is pretty big and was spotless! A+ for a clean bathroom when it's busy! Our waitress Jaime was such a sweetheart too! She was very attentive to us and her other tables. She recommended a few beers to us and chit-chatted with us throughout the night =] The beer selection is A+! It's always nice to drink a Delirium Tremens out of one the most stolen glasses in America! (Belgian snifter glass!) Def a fan of BB!

If you want to walk into a bar thirsty, hungry and watch the waitstaff watch TV this is your place. Food, waitstaff, and drinks were not worth the effort of leaving my house

I've only come on noisy Saturdays, so... 1. If you're coming on a night they have music (which I imagine is quite frequently), be prepared to not be able to speak to your friends as it is very loud. But, the bands they have are great. 2. The waitstaff is pretty nice. Decent Mt. Prospect people (I'm very partial to this town, FYI. It raised me!). 3. Food is pretty good. Again, I've only come here on Saturday nights after dinner/holidays so I haven't eaten a ton, but the food I've had is good. 4. There's tons of seating. We get tables even when I think there's going to be a line out the door. 5. Parking can kind of be a nightmare but we've been lucky most times. Um, what else... there's big tvs above the bar... the chalked beer names can be difficult to read from the balcony... they have awesome Blues Brothers memorabilia... I'm sure I'll be back. My dad LOVES this place.

Nice interior. Live music playing often. Food is OK. And GREAT craft beer selection! Went there last night and it was CLOSED for renovations. I checked they're website beforehand for event calendar, and there was no indication they would be closed.

We were the youngest people there, and the oldest of us was 25. The beer selection was great, the servers were indifferent and the music was AWFUL. We chugged our $7 beers and booked it out of there. Also, they stored the beer glasses in a bucket of water, that can't possibly be sanitary. The only reason they're getting two stars is because of the craft beer list. But they shouldn't even be getting that. Never again.

You will thank yourself for getting the nachos!! There wasn't many people in there when we went, and we were initially sitting at the bar. We moved ro a regular table because the bartender never waited on us.

This seems like an alright place. I only spent about half an hour here to catch a little bit of the local school garage bands that were playing. My friend's boyfriend helped to set it up, so we wanted to stop by and show some love. It was great to see that bigger, theme-places are supporting the locals and the ahhhhhrts. We weren't forced to buy anything and we got water refills without dirty looks. I'd be more than happy to come back and really get a feel for the place.

I've been here twice; the first time was the night before a holiday (maybe Easter?) and it was almost empty. The blue lights and large building caught my eye and I wanted to check it out. I was impressed with the beer selection; I'm always a sucker for bar that has an extensive list of microbrews. They even have a deal on buckets of beer that lets you choose five, as long as they're under $6, I believe. The first time I went, I only ordered a beer and we didn't stay long. I just wanted to check it out. The second we went was because we were wasting time before a movie started at the AMC theater down the road at the Randhurst mall. The place was packed and with about 95% older adults, I'd say 40 years old and older. We noticed a band playing and then the guy at the door mentioned the $5 cover. I know, it's only $5, but considering it wasn't a band we knew of and we were probably the youngest people there, we decided to leave. I really wish this place had a younger crowd, or at least a mixture of young and older people and that there wasn't a cover charge because then I would go back. I do love the high ceilings, the blue lighting, the blues theme and beer selection, but I don't think I'll be returning.

When first walking into The Blues Bar; you get a great feeling. The decor is awesome. Unfortunately the Hostess last night looked as though it was an imposition to be there, nor feel the need to dress nicely for work, or comb her hair. (First Impressions) The waiter was funny and very knowledgeable! He was very at-tentative as well! The music was also very good last night-Rood Mood. It was a rough crowd due to the holiday and lack of crowd to begin with, on this night. I have been there when there are a lot more people and the mood is great! Soo cute; little 3 year old's dancing in front of the band...one big family wedding atmosphere... Unfortunately, the Mood was ruined by a private party up stars with little children running up and down the stairs, yelling and screaming. I was beginning to think I was in Chuck e- Cheese for a minute! I LOVE Children, I have children; however, the word BAR would tend to Distract people from bringing children into an Adult atmosphere, especially After Certain hours. The manager finally went up there at almost 9:45 to ask them to be quiet! I am sure there should be rules about little children in Bars and a time to leave Before Adults start pouring in for an enjoyable evening of ADULT Time; should be at 6PM. Unfortunately we ALL had to suffer ALL through dinner and the beginning of the show with this. Again, cute dancers. The FOOD was Not Bar food! Everything from the Ribs, Chicken and burgers were terrific! Again, the waiter was awesome! I will more than likely go again, hoping the same situation would not occur.

We came here for lunch. The brisket was served cold. The bartender/server apologized and said they mustn't have heated it up enough and offered to take half of it off our bill, but not to remake it or even warm it up. My coworker ordered a burger, the smokehouse, which looked awesome. Lots of cheese, onion rings and BBQ sauce on it. However when he took a bite it was raw! We finished our Gumballheads and left. Even though they have a very impressive beer list, I'm never eating here again.

Good for a group, I came as part of a bachelorette party. It was enjoyable. The drinks and food were pretty good. The music was fun and I would have liked to hear more. Not bad!

I must preface my review by saying my hubby and I tried this place at 6pm on a Tuesday night so the place wasn't overly busy. My husband sampled some good BBQ from this place at Chef's Fest (what a terrible night for me to be ill and couldn't go!). We put it on our list of places to try when we were in the area. I really liked the decor - of course it's Blues Brothers and Chicago themed. They have these really beautiful little blue blown glass lamps hanging from the ceiling and the bathrooms even have the movie/city motif (giant "Curl Up & Dye Salon" sign anyone??) with bright blue sparkly counters. I have to say it was one of the cleanest bar bathrooms I've been in! Since it was a Tuesday night we had the $5 pulled pork sandwich special and sprang the extra buck for an additional side (two cornbreads, please!). I tried their Bourbon BBQ sauce which is a little spicy, not much, and I really enjoyed it. My husband had the Sweet & Sticky BBQ sauce which was also quite good. They also have a 3rd option, the seasonal sauce which is currently some sort of Ale-Apple Sauce (I forget the Ale, shame on me!). I could taste the smoky goodness of their pulled pork and my sandwich was overflowing with its' deliciousness. Their coleslaw was some of the best I've had but the cornbread, while good, was definitely overcooked. However, with enough butter and honey on the cornbread who could tell? You could also pay another $1 for a pretzel roll on your sandwich but we passed. They have a small outdoor eating area but we sat inside on the pub tables as it was waaaay too hot outside for us. Seems like it would be a fun place to come when the band is rocking the place - the stage is right by the front door. Our server was Matt, and he was a gem! I can't remember the last time we'd ever had such great, friendly service at a "bar". He was attentive and made sure we had everything we wanted. I was also impressed with their menu; not as limited as I expected for a bar-type place with some entrees in addition to the normal appetizers, burgers and BBQ stuff. And these entrees sounded really good! We must return so I can try more!

Mmm.. BBQ burger! I love their burgers. On Sunday & Monday they're $5 for a regular burger. It's really worth it. I actually think the BBQ burger is my favorite burger around since I always compare burgers I eat to Blues Bar's. Try one if you haven't- Maybe I'm just crazy, but my family and boyfriend agree. The BBQ ribs are also decent. They have a vast assortment of beers and on tap. I recommend this place for a good drink and/or burger. Sometimes they have good bands playing, and you have to pay cover even if you don't want to be there for them. Once we got around paying for cover by showing up earlier to eat and then stayed for a bit to listen in... Hehe. The service is decent. Some days it's pretty bad, like on Sunday & Monday.. I think there's only one waiter/bartender present. I feel a little bad for them, but they may make good tips if they serve well. They're always really nice- I've never had a bad service but sometimes slow. If you go in expecting this, it's not as bad. Take your time, relax a little. Also you usually have to sit yourself. I rarely see people to take you to a table, but it can happen. Environment: I like the look of the place. It's a very Bluesy atmosphere. The Blues Brothers poster is on the wall, and there's a car at the ceiling. It's interesting for the suburbs. It's dim lit. --- Conclusion: Girl Says DO! -- I am going back! Even if the service was worse, I would go for my BBQ burger and a Blue Moon. Give the place a try and don't judge on the bad reviews only. Check Groupon, too- they have had some deals.

Nice Venue for: Either Live Music OR Watching Sports on 10 blaring screens. Food Poisoning from the Cheese Quesadillas gives the restaurant a one star. Nice venue for either live music OR sports on lots of big screens. Went to see Mr. Blotto, a local jam band on a Sat nite. The blue rays from all the tv screens were not conducive to enjoying a live music experience. Perhaps the owners want to bring in as many customers as possible so the sports people have to put up with the music and the music people have to put up with the glare and blare of the multiple screens. One issue that ruined several patrons experience was the psuedo hippie chic that "comes with the band" setting up all her macrame and woven crap - jewelery, hats - all cheap crap for sale. We watched her set up. She moved 3 tables - prime spots to make room for her own tables. A couple that had already eaten and were having a drink were moved to the back wall. She proceeded to set up her own tables, spotlights and crap from big huge plastic tubs on wheels. She created a traffic jam all night. All we could see were fat rear ends leaning over the tables not spending a dime. One lady from the nearest table told the guy at the front entry area she was not happy with paying $10 cover to be crowded next to an art faire getting bumped all night long. She asked if the lady paid for table space and was told she comes with the band. The dissatisfied patron pointed out the loss of income from 3 prime tables. The manager was stumped and didn't know how to handle it. The waitress wasn't happy either. Mr. Blotto is a GREAT BAND. But coupled with the ever present immature, drunk/high crowd and the art faire tables, I think I can only tolerate their macramed fans in an outdoor venue. Sorry for the negative review. I would try the Blues Bar again for live music though because it is a nice venue. I can tolerate the blare/glare of tv screens tho it'd be nice if they were turned off when the musicians start playing. I won't be ordering any food.

Went for lunch to Blues Bar on a beautiful Friday. Got there right at opening time 11:00. We sat outdoors enjoying summer short appearance in Chicago. Our waiter was very attentive and read us well as "in no hurry." We quickly got our drinks and perused the menu. Our waiter was on the spot as we needed a drink refill and we ordered. Had the House Salad. Very fresh and satisfying. Business began to pick up and our waiter was there for us. Will go back to try their BBQ. JohnnyChitown

Enjoyed another great dinner here on the outside patio. A little noisy when the train rolls by across the street, but that does not take away from the great food. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Helpful suggestions to choose from the extensive beer list. Try the pear hard cider! Delicious BBQ brisket nachos were a tasty surprise. House made potato chips were awesome. Inside tables are all on high stools- this is a bar after all....upstairs opens for crowds on weekends. Good food, good prices, nice people!

Beer list is good, but the service is awful. Absolutely sucks. Bartenders barely pay attention. I have no idea how they stay in business with such poor attention to customers. So frustrated as a customer to have this type of service.

Went here on a Thursday night so not a lot was going on, which was nice. i guess they have music some nights so i might try to check that out. the person who referred me said the food was good, but not the best service. fortunatly, i loved our server, julie! she was friendly, attentive, and wasn't remotely annoyed by my pesky questions and indecisiveness. i loved the macaroni and cheese, but my husband wasn't a huge fan of the brisket. (it was a little chewy but he did like the sauce). my friend that suggested it mentioned the nachos are great as well. Extensive craft beer list, nightly specials, and a comfortable ambience. i'll be back for the mac and cheese and hope that julie is working!!

Great location and I thought this would be a great local bar given the slim pickings in Mt. Prospect, but the service is really lacking. The food is just OK and the prices seem inflated for the quality. Anyway, I recently went in for a beer after work and the servers/bartender paid no attention to me. There were hardly any customers at the time and the staff members were just talking casually like I wasn't there? After 5 minutes, I walked out and will never go back. It takes exactly two seconds to walk over and say, "hello, I'll be right with you." It's really too bad because the bar is new, decorated very nicely, huge TVs, patio and really convenient. Go to bar Louie or any bar in Arlington Heights...

We went there last night for dinner and got to catch the Jets/Cowboys season opening game. Our friends had some Groupons and wanted to check it out. The food was quite good for a Bar, and since there was no live band there wasn't a cover charge either. The Blues Brothers theme was kind of creepy/cheesy (I had to spend ten minutes explaining the movie to my 12 year old), but the place was inoffensive and clean. I had the wings for my appetizer and they were pretty decent for bar food. Especially pleasing was the Mango Serrano wing sauce, just the right balance between hot and sweet. My son had the Mac and Cheese entree, which despite the addition of Bacon was pretty bland. My wife liked her Tilapia, but it was a little too spicy for her taste. Our friends had Skirt Steak and Pulled Pork for their entrees and both were more than satisfied. Our server was very attentive to our needs, checking back often to refill our drinks an made some excellent recommendations as well. Overall we all agreed that this would be a great place to try again, even without Groupons.

Read Old Review Below. So I went here last week (5/09/08) and I have to say that this place stepped it up notch. Service was much better then the first time around Still skip on the appetizers and go straight for the food. The pulled pork sandwich is to die for. I wasn't impressed as the other reviews said they were but it definitely has a good atmosphere. I have heard that it's much better at night when they have a live band playing. I do recommend there burgers or bbq chicken which are phanominel but don't waste your time on the appetizers, even though are are good there portions are okay for may two people. Our food order took quite a bit but at least our waiter came to check on us.

Have been to the Blues Bar several times with friends from work and with my family. The food is very good - especially the pulled pork and wings. The beer selection is out of this world and the service is top notch!!
(4)Slava F.
Visited the Blues Bar a couple of times, it's just OK. Not really shining at anything at all. The main drawback is food, fix it, and you will have a gem. However, once in a while, I like to visit them to enjoy a good glass of beer and listen to music or watch the game. What I liked: Atmosphere - nice place Beer selection - lots of microbrews, great selection overall Size and placement of TVs - self explanatory Their fries - I like them, the taste and crispiness hits the spot Smoked wings if ordered naked or hot - taste great, but add a BBQ sauce and you will hate it What I didn't like: Their BBQ sauces - they are just too sweet, make every dish that I had almost inedible. They also drown pulled pork in it. The BBQ dishes - just not that good, no smoke flavor. You can probably achieve the same results with liquid smoke and an oven. Fish Fry - too much batter, which becomes extremely daughy and easily separates from the fish. Definitely not good. I haven't had a main dish that I liked there, will most likely stick to apps and beer.
(2)Kathleen A.
My husband and I went here last night for dinner. I had the turkey club wrap and he had the breakfast burger. Both were delish. We also had a few drinks and our waiter was very nice, attentive (but not annoyingly so) and knowledgeable about all the craft beers. We will definitely be back!
(5)Vesna N.
Ive been here a few times now and always encountered nice staff and good service. Drinks are pretty tasty and brought out quickly. The decor is quite nice...granite tabletops with shiny sparks? I love it....even the bathrooms are nice...real clean place. Last time we went our waitress brought out three free shots for me, my husband and herself...now that's pretty awesome!

Take a 3 story open space. Cover the walls with brick. Use metal for all of the supports in the room. Add some large flat screen TVs. Now add lots of people and a band. What do you get? NOISE! Man, this place is an audio engineer's nightmare. For God's sake don't stand near the back of the room. you'll lose your mind. If you want to hear the band, stand close because anywhere more than 10 feet away, it's a mish-mash of echoes. And forget talking to your friends/date/waitperson. The food is good, the Bleus Burger (it has bleu cheese on it, get it?) was very good, and big. The croquette appetizer was good, if overpriced. Everything else was meh. They have outdoor seating, so that's something. Parking is still a hassle. Bathrooms are notable because the hand dryer has the wind velocity of an F5 tornado. Omigod. Worth going just to check that out. Too bad Ye Olde Town Inn closed.

This place has a fantastic beer selection -- lots of craft brands. It could be a very cool place. The space is great, but the experience falls flat. The name is deceiving -- the bands hired are rarely blues bands, mostly old timers who play 80s cover material (ugh, per me). If only, they had better entertainment. They did have Shadows of Knight recently (but they didn't stick to the early material that they recorded in the 60s. That would have been a great show. Instead, they fit in with the Blues Bar common denominator -- cover material that well, sounds common.

I really enjoy going to this bar and have brought several others there to try as well many times. + One of the great points is the draft and bottle craft beer selection. A few of the taps of craft brew rotate weekly to non-typical craft brews that are great to try. The bartender that is there frequently is very familiar with the brews served. + Another great point is the food. The smoked/bbq foods are great (smoked wings, brisket, pulled pork, and ribs). Good burgers as well. I can't get enough of the wings though. Not only has a good smokey taste but also covered in very good house sauces. + Sports viewing has been ok in the past, but great now. The giant projector is difficult to see in the light but nice at night. They recently added hd tv's along the whole front wall so there's no missing anything now. + Bands on Saturdays is great. Not many smaller bar / venues in the area for this anymore. - Staffing on occasion can be limited but most often not the case. - No game audio if watching sports (Although I hear this will change for NFL coming up)
(4)Eileen M.
I've only come here for Team Trivia nights on Tuesdays. Their wings are pretty good. $3 premium drafts- dece beer selection.
(3)Amelia W.
I'll come back here for sure, but I'll come early next time! I came to see a band on Saturday night. The band was fantastic, although we couldn't get a table with a view right away. There was a quality beer list, although most of the good beers were in bottles (or cans!). Our server was knowledgeable about the beers and shared a few insights about Ska brewery -- always a bonus! We had appetizers on the late-night menu and thought they were quite good. We had potato skins with BBQ pulled pork -- one of those combinations that seems SO natural when you taste it, but you'd never thought of before. I'd recommend them! We also had sweet potato fries -- $3 for a fairly generous helping of nice, thin fries. The band, Howard and the White Boys, was excellent. The venue was loud but it sounded good both upstairs and downstairs. We were able to move to a table on the upstairs rail partway through our food, then finished our drinks downstairs. One disappointment: no dance floor. There were one or two people dancing in front of the stage, but they looked a bit out of place. I'll be back here for sure and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Last night four of us went to Blues Bar on the Groupon deal, which was a great bargain. It was all of our first times there, so it took us awhile to choose one of the many micro-brews that they carry at the bar. The atmosphere is pretty cool, especially if you are in to the Blues Brothers. All of us had barbeque, their specialty. I had the ribs with the bourbon sauce, which were pretty good and the sauce had a bit of a kick at the end. The pulled pork, and the brisket were also had by two in the group and they said they were good as well. Our server was pleasant and helpful, and we did not feel rushed to leave when the band started playing. Overall it was a nice night with good food. It wasn't the best barbeque I have ever had, but considering the bill was over a $100 and the Groupon was for $25 it was well worth it.
(3)Victor H.
You don't allow reservations for a Tuesday evening because a Groupon is about to expire? Good job pissing off your customers.

The Blues Bar in Mt. Prospect, IL is THE bar in the current town I live in (Mt. Prospect, IL). The main attraction here is the beer menu. They have a fantastic beer selection for a suburban bar and organize their menu based on the type of beer it is which makes it very beginner friendly. The prices here are also great! You can party really hard for less than $100/couple. The food is kind of hit or miss for me, but they do have some stand outs. Their smoked chicken wings are very nice if you enjoy smoke. I also think there ribs are very nice for the price. The other main attraction is the fantastic live music that they feature on the weekends! They have a great mix of Blues, Classics, and Rock. I would definately recommend this place when in Mt. Prospect.
(4)Jason T.
One of the best beer lists of any place I've been in the Chicago burbs. Love their wings and sliders. Ribs and brisket were pretty dry though.
(4)Rich B.
The Blues Bar is a Blues Brothers themed bar. I have come here a few times and I just dont care for it. The price of a beer is just outrages. I cant comment on the food here, because I have never eaten here. Any other time I went back, I just was not impressed
(2)Ron R.
Great place to have a drink with that special someone.
(4)Candice G.
LOVE the food here. Burgers are great, artichoke dip ROCKS, pulled pork is extremely tender and flavorful, blackened tilapia with potatoes that are out of this world was amazing, grilled chicken was fabulous with a delicious rice and spinach. One time I got a wrap to be healthy and it was a little dry but so what. I sound like I'm advertising for this place but I just totally love their food! The chef must know what he's doing. TV's need to be a little bigger and lower on the wall as far as sports games, but even with that negative It was still fun watching a Bears game here. Now we just need the Bears to win and I'm good to go.
(5)Johnny F.
Nice place to hang out or have a party at considering the beer selection. Good martinis n had a deal to choose 3 martinis for 10 bucks. Rib sampler wasnt all that great where most places it would fall off the bone. But nice atmosphere
(4)MJ E.
The place is huge and has a fun vibe. They have a large selection of beer and a stage for live entertainment. Based on food alone, nothing is worth going back for. My standard first time order for a BBQ joint is pulled pork because you can't go wrong....until Blues Bar :( This was the worst pulled pork I've ever tasted. The bourbon BBQ sauce was nothing special either. Don't go for the BBQ.
(2)chris f.
Hands down, this place has the best ribs I have ever had at a restaurant. I love ribs, but started NOT ordering them because they just were not up to par at places like Carson's, Famous Daves, Gale Street Inn, Bluegrass, etc. First time at Blues Bar I had the pulled pork, excellent, but hubby had the ribs so I tried one and was blown away. They are so meaty with very little fat. Also, there are 3 different sauce choices (we like the bourbon). The other great thing is the value.... for $20 you get a monster slab of ribs and two sides. The only reason my review is not 5 stars.... is when we were there last night (hadn't been there since the spring) the two sides I had were only ok. The coleslaw and the cornbread were just alright.... In the past the cornbread was excellent and the beans were out of this world. They don't have the beans on the menu anymore. Salad is a side choice and hubby said it was very fresh & good. Blues Bar is a must if you like barbeque! if someone who works there is reading this.....BRING BACK THE BEANS!
(4)Maria L.
like this place a lot. great place for good music ,and a drink:)
(5)Tom M.
This place blows. Yes, the decor is awesome, I'll give you that, but you've got to offer more than just a pretty package for my hard earned money. WAY TOO LOUD!!! Country bands on the weekends? Lite FM on speakers at lunch? This place is called Blues Bar, right? Food is o.k. but WAY overpriced. Booze is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Manager seems like a tool. There's plenty of other fine places in Mt. Prospect that respect my palate, wallet, ears, and intelligence. I won't be back to this overpriced joke...
(1)Erica Y.
i agree with the comments here about awful service. i live in mt. prospect and have been wanting to try this place. i took a friend last night and was so appalled by the service or lack there of. we left after five minutes of standing at the sign that says seat yourself! seriously, there was not a seat open and NO ONE ever acknowledged that we were waiting. no HI, thanks for coming, i know its full, lets see what we can do. NOTHING. worst service and the food that i saw at the tables was nothing to rave about. go to downtown arlington heights or bar louie. this place needs to have a course in customer service. i work in retail, so i understand busy, but Blues bar....always remember if a customer has a good experience, they might tell one or two people, but when they have a horrible experience, THEY TELL EVERYONE.

We went early one Friday evening, & were very pleased. The atmosphere was 'cool', the Blues Brother's Theme was consistant from the authentic police care to the blue water glasses. The pulled pork, & variety of side dishes were FABULOUS ! ! Our waitress was prompt & attentive, & the chef has done some very tasty & creative things with the menu. They have a private room, & parking was easy. We enjoyed our diner, & if you have a soft spot for bbq & especially pulled pork, this is a Tasty Must ! !
(5)Melissa B.
Finally something a little unique out in the burbs! I had a night out planned with no plans. So when looking for things to do online I saw this place. Never heard of it before! But it was 3 of my favorite things combined- excellent food, excellent blues, and alcohol! We went at about 7:00PM and got a table. I had tilapia with mashed potatoes and spinach. SUPERB!! Hubby ordered that fried onion appetizer thing. I never like it at other restaurants but couldn't keep my mitts off it here! Warning though- It was very greasy and gave us both bad heartburn. I also liked the warm bread served and my dessert- a warm fruit pastry with ice cream. Yay! So excellent. Service was slow because it was packed but I don't fault them because I was so enamored of the delicious food. Also the server was very apologetic and sweet. Plus we were there to hang out and watch the show later, we were in no hurry. The blues band was top notch! Very "Chicago"! This is a great place to impress out -of -towners or on a date. The crowd was mostly older- I'd say mostly 30's, a few 40's and even some 50's. A down to Earth crowd. Another plus with this 32 year old! I can't stand younger crowds anymore! I didn't find the music overly loud where it hurt my ears and where you couldn't have a conversation. They must have fixed that because I found the acoustics to be perfect, not too loud according to other yelpers. P.S. LOVED the clean, sparkly bathroom!

Pork yeah! The pulled pork sandwiches are amazing! I also learned that the brisket sandwich is right up there too... It does help when you can pick the bbq sauce. I love the Blues Brothers movie so I dont mind the theme (some themed placed I get a little overwhelmed if Im not completely into the subject) and it looks pretty cool on the inside. I had been there for trivia a few months ago, on their pulled pork special night (aka Tuesday) and selected 5 beers from their extensive beer list so they could place them in a bucket; needless to say it was a great night. Ive come back a few times since then, and I was tempted to joke that I had a 'usual' but I dont think they would get it. I just wanted to imply that I have a go-to because the pork is delicious, especially with the spicy bourbon sauce, the fries are handcut (I think) and awesome (I know). Plus with a list like theirs, how can you not find a beer you'd want to drink or try out? My advice: visit the Blues Bar, tell them youre on a mission from God...

I would've given the home town bar 4 stars, but was unpleasantly surprised with paying cover on a friday night. Yes, I understand why bars do cover, but it's Mount Prospect. Anyway- Went here with a friend on a tuesday night. Was totally blown away by the decor inside. I would've never thought that a bar like this would be in MP! They had a vast selection of craft brew (pricey) and OK bar specials. The pulled pork looked awesome, but I had the taco's at lamplighters, so did not get to try it. Overall, very cool bar. The stars deducted were only for the cover and priceyness of the craft brew.

Went to this place for a football game and a b-day party last Sunday. I've never heard of this place nor have I read any reviews. It was just a place where some friends of mine and I got together to watch the Bears game. Coincidenteally there was also a b-day party for my friends fiance and several other people in her Family. My first impression was, "Wow, Not a bad place for Mt. Prospect". Its a nice place with a blues brothers theme. I didnt now this going in. But once inside it was clean they had many Flat screen TV's in all different positions throught the restaurant. A gripe I had was that they had huge screen with the game on, but the game itself was barely visible due the day light from the windows. It was almost blank. I'd say this screen was 15' x 15'. But I really couldnt see a thing. We would watch the other flat screens but they were far away and you couldnt read the score that well. Anyways, on to the food and liquor. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer, not so good. Its artichoke dip with cut up pieces of dark bread?! Which were not even toasted well. What happend to the chips? -1 star for that. They do have a special on football sundays, $5 blues burger, 3 pints blue moon or miller lite. I ordered the blues burger(medium well), with grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. The burger was pretty decent, I liked it. Served on the infamous pretzel bun which everybody seems to be doing now. Fries are handcut fries which were about avg., I didnt even finish them. The pretzel bun was toasted very well....i kinda like it a little crispy. I dont know if i was hungry or not but I scarffed down this burger like it was my last meal. I was the first one to finish. So it was good. Had a coke with the meal and a "alpha king" beer afterwards. I did notice that they charged us for one coke, everyone at the table had a coke. As far as the drinks. They have very nice selection of beers, typical micro brew beers, IPA's, Lagers...etc. Just to name a few, they had 60, 90 minute IPA. Chimay blue/red. "Alpha king" of course, and many others. A few on tap I did not recognize. I'll probably make a return to this place since its kind of central to where all my friends live. Another plus is its not too crowded during the bears game, so you get your meals and drinks quick. I would imagine this place to be very different during the evening crowds. Another issue(if you think its an issue) is the location, -1 star. Its not really close to any express/highways. Its kinda off the beaten path in downtown mt. prospect. But parking was a plenty. We stayed after the game for the b-day party which was upstairs in its private on room. Which is a nice area out of the way of the main crowd. There was a nice buffet setup with wings and quesadillas but we had already eaten so didnt give that a try.

Went to see a band there, 11th Hour, which was great. We noticed for a Friday night it was unusually empty. We went there as a group to eat and see the band. T he food was good. But the service totally sucked. The waitress was very inattentive. We spent most of the time waiting for her to order drinks. When you looked at the service area there were 2 waitresses and the bartender standing around talking. Somebody went to the bar to get a beer. The bartender put a bottle up without asking his preference for bottle or draft. Very lackadaisical attitude. I asked for a doggie bag. After a half hour of waiting, I ate it. I can see why there was no business. If it's not for the band, we won't be going anymore. It's a shame that a place with atmosphere and good food should suffer because of uncaring employees.

Let's be clear, this is a bar. And for a local bar I was impressed with the decor, the friendly service, the clean bathrooms... The food is your typical bar food (appetizers, burgers, salads, but also BBQ, BBQ, BBQ and a few seafood dishes). In other words, you'll find something for your palate, no doubt. We ended up ordering the blues burger. It was good but lacked flavor. It came with a salad (a plus) and fries (the fries were cryspy and good). We also ordered the pulled pork platter. It was good. Also came with a salad and a choice of 2 side dishes. Went for the sauted spinach and mac&cheese. Both sides were rather "rich". Anyway, decent food for a bar in a nice bar atmosphere. Note, they have outdoor seating which is a nice plus, although avoid seating near the front entrance as bar patrons come out for a smoke and don't bother to walk a few feet.... The best part, this is walking distance to Cappannari's, so in the summer months you can top your evening with ice cream if you wish (and we did, and so did the table next to us).

A contemporary tribute to the 1980's classic "The Blues Brothers", Blues Bar in downtown Mount Prospect offers a refreshing alternative to the sterotypical suburban sports bar. Visitors to Blues Bar are greeted by a Mount Prospect police car similar to the one featured in the movie parked in the front windows of the second story. The theme continues inside with photos from the movie, and a sound booth that looks like a Chicago CTA electrical substation. My review comes after visiting Blue Bar for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was friendly and the menu offered up some unique selections. Sandwich selections included chips or fries and a cup of soup. One member of my party ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and said it was one of the best buffalo chicken sandwiches he has had in a long time. All four diners in our group will be back. Blues Bar is definitely worth checking out.

We went there for our first time on Sept 29th. The decor great, the band, great, the beer great, the food not so great. We started with spicey Garlic wings and these were great, except some were a bit under cooked and rubbery. I had the pulled pork with bourbon sauce, not good at all. Pretty flavorless, disappointed. My buddy had the ribs. Very disapointing, tuff, dry and the sauce over powered it all. All you could taste was cinnamon in each bite. Both our wives had beef brisket. VERY Bad. Left them with some pretty rank gas. Not a good thing. For the sides, the sweet potatoe fries were really good, onion strings as well. The veggies were a bit overcooked. Since this is Blues Brothers themed bar I would of thought they would of had a shrimp cocktail, or 4 whole fried chickens and a coke. I would be wary about spending your cash to eat there, but for entertainment it is top notch. I will go back for that but probably grab food elsewhere

Really should be named "Tribute Band Bar", but now and then they do have a real blues band. Regardless of band, always packed. Food is not bad if you are expecting limited selection & mediocre quality. But our waitress kept leaning her head over our food and drinks to ask questions -- I guess her hair was tasty by end of the night.

don't know how these guys can sell bbq with a straight face. our spicy garlic wings were the best part of our experience (Verry Good!) also tried the fried veg app, batter did not stick to the asparagus and the mushrooms were the worst ever had. they were shriveled and breading was nothing but grease, as if they had been left over and refried more than once. don't bother with the ribs. I have not had a worse rack of ribs in many years, and that includes the boiled and grilled kind. There was no smoke flavor to be found same goes for the dry rub and they were so tough and dried out I only managed to choke down 1 rib after about 5 min of hacking thru them with a steak knife. We will not waste our time and $ on a 2ND CHANCE.

I loved the decor - exposed brick and tons of TV screens, a wide open space full of tall tables and chairs, and clean bathrooms. The flavor of the food was good, especially the calamari. We also had the toasted ravioli, salmon, steak, a bite of the sea bass, and then we had pecan pie and the lava cake for dessert. The fish was crispy, and almost too well done (but I actually like it that way). Disappointing was the portion sizes of everything. Too small! I would expect that from a fine dining establishment, but I expected more Irish pub portions here. We came here hoping to hear some blues, but ended up with a very loud cover band that played your usual selection of 80's and 90's rock tunes. Should've looked ahead at the calendar. I was also hoping to get some cheaper martinis being that it was out in the 'burbs, but you have a wide variety of $10 drinks to choose from.
